Druzys, also known as druse or drusy, are cut from the center of a geode, which has formed tiny crystals from water and silica inside its air pocket. The natural beauty of the geode is seen in the multi-coloring of the fine crystals formed inside of the surface of the stone. This cannot be seen until the stone is cut in two. The analogy of a cut coconut is appropriate to depict this phenomenon.
“Geodes are essentially hollow, loosely spheroid to oblate masses of mineral matter.”
